Almhütte Enzian - cosiness and pure nature

The Almhütte Enzian is located in beautiful Carinthia, in the upper Drau Valley at 1650 metres above sea level. It is the ideal starting point for a variety of outdoor activities, such as leisurely walks, hiking, swimming, climbing, rafting, canyoning or archery. Directly in the valley in Greifenburg with shopping facilities and restaurants is a pretty swimming lake and a high ropes course. You can also explore an idyllic gorge on a water hiking trail, particularly suitable for children.
*Please note:* The last 5 kilometres from Greifenburg to the hut are on a gravel road, which is well maintained and easy to drive on. If you are travelling in the colder months, please take snow chains with you.

Our rustic alpine hut is surrounded by a large plot of land with a sunny plateau with table and benches (deckchairs and parasols are available). In front of the hut there is another seating area that invites you to enjoy a cosy get-together. There is a charcoal barbecue at your disposal. If you are travelling with a dog, please note that the property is not completely fenced in.

Sledges and children's bobsleighs are available in winter.

On the ground floor there is a living room with sitting area, kitchenette and wood-burning stove, a bedroom with 2 beds, a pantry, a bathroom with shower and a separate WC.
On the upper floor you will find a beautiful 4-bed room with balcony, a cosy 2-bed room and a separate WC.

As the hut is located in the pasture area of cows, there are two parking spaces about 250 metres away. The path to the car park is not steep and very easy to walk on, but is closed by a barrier. On your arrival and departure, however, you can drive right up to the hut to load and unload your luggage. Afterwards, however, the car must be parked in the car park belonging to the hut to avoid damage to the vehicle by cows. Backpacks are ideal for transporting purchases during your stay. For bookings in winter, spring and autumn, there may be occasional snowfall. As a result, direct access to the hut may be restricted or not possible. In this case, we will be waiting for you at the car park with sledges to transport your luggage.

Excursion possibilities :
The Weißensee (highest bathing lake in the Eastern Alps) is only a few kilometres away from Greifenburg. In winter there is the possibility of ice skating, skiing and cross-country skiing.
A trip to nearby Lienz in East Tyrol is also very nice, with a 2.7 km long toboggan run open all year round and the wonderful Lienz Dolomites. Many brochures with descriptions of all the sights are available at the mountain hut.

From our hut you can take the popular hiking trail of the Kreuzeck Group directly to the Fellnerhütte (with overnight accommodation). If that is too far for you, you can hike to the local mountains Tolzer and Gaugen (approx. 2200 m above sea level) where you can proudly sign the summit book after your ascent and enjoy the marvellous view over the mountain peaks.
Village description : In Greifenburg in the valley there are various grocery shops, pharmacy, doctors, bakery and other services (including ski hire)
Other sports and leisure activities : In Greifenburg there is a high ropes course for adventure and the neighbouring, beautiful bathing lake offers refreshing cooling in summer. A snack bar invites you to stay a while and fortify yourself. You can also book canyoning and rafting tours nearby or experience exciting 3D archery courses in beautiful natural surroundings.
There is also a water hiking trail in Greifenburg, which also offers lots of fun and adventure for small children.
