As soon as it snows and the snow remains, the road to Isola becomes impassable by car and a winter hiking trail and a cross-country ski trail are prepared. From Maloja you can then get to Isola with winter boots or cross-country skis. The beautiful "flower meadow" is then groomed as a circular trail.
In mid/late January, when Lake Sils freezes over, you can also walk across the frozen Lake Sils from Plaun da Lej and from Sils.
