    “Sao Vicente ist ein hübscher kleiner Ort, der direkt am Meer liegt.
    Es gibt 2 kleine Supermärkte, in denen man alles Lebensnotwendige findet (sogar Pflanzenmilch und Sojajoghurt). Für größere Einkäufe muss man ca. 20 Minuten nach Ribera Brava fahren.
    Besichtigen kann man die berühmten Grotten und es gibt auch 1-2 Wanderungen in der Nähe, die sich lohnen.
    Um zu den Wanderhighlights der Insel zu gelangen, muss man eine etwas längere Fahrt in Kauf nehmen (40-70 Minuten).
    Allgemein empfehlen wir für die Insel einen Mietwagen mit etwas stärkerem Motor. Auf dem Weg nach Sao Vicente, aber auch zu jedem anderen Ort der Insel muss man nicht unerhebliche Steigungen überwinden, das macht mit einem 1,0l Polo nicht so viel Spaß.”

    “Het wordt omschreven als 1 van de mooiste plaatsen van Madeira, dat klopt, het betekent dat er busladingen mensen komen. Parkeergelegenheid is prima, er is een goede supermarkt ( de supermarkt dichtbij het huis is ruimer). Een schitterende ruige zee, maar de noordkant van het eiland, dus vaker slecht weer.”

    “Sao VIncente is klein en als oord om naar toe te gaan zou ik het niet aanbevelen. Je moet het zien als uitvalsbasis voor heel Madeira en dan ligt het vrij centraal.
    De beste supermarkt van het plaatsje ligt tegenover het huis. Alleen even oversteken. Alle dagelijkse boodschappen zijn er voorhanden en open van 8.00 tot 22.00 uur is ook erg fijn.
    Gastronomisch gezien is Madeira niet echt aan te bevelen. Misschien dat er Funchal betere restaurants zijn te vinden, maar daar zijn wij niet echt wezen eten. Ik beveel vooral de vis/schelpdieren aan. En er zijn wel een aantal terrasjes en restaurants, waar niet moeilijk wordt gedaan over wat je wil eten. Ook een lunch is 's avonds mogelijk en omgekeerd.
    De prijzen zowel van drank als eten liggen naar Nederlandse maatstaven laag.
    De grotten liggen aan het eind van de straat”
