Arezzo is an enchanting city in the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by hills that offer spectacular views. The historical centre, rich in art and history, is a treasure trove. One of the most fascinating and historical areas is Piazzetta Sopra i Ponti, a small and characteristic square located a few steps from the centre. The piazzetta, named after its location above an ancient bridge, is a quiet and beautiful corner where visitors can enjoy an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. From L'Angolo del Tempo, you can easily walk to some of Arezzo's most emblematic attractions. Piazza Grande, one of the city's most suggestive places, is only a 5-10 minute walk away. This square, with its trapezoidal shape and terracotta floor, is the beating heart of Arezzo. From there, you can also admire the Cathedral of San Donato, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from Piazzetta Sopra i Ponti. The Gothic cathedral is another symbol of the city, with its imposing façade and interior housing extraordinary works of art. Not far from the Piazzetta, the Church of San Francesco is another must-see. It is home to the cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca, one of the most famous masterpieces of the Renaissance, which attracts numerous art enthusiasts every year. To reach the church, it takes about 10-12 minutes on foot from Piazzetta Sopra i Ponti. Another highlight is the Giostra del Saracino, the famous chivalric tournament held twice a year. This historical event takes place about 15-20 minutes' walk from Piazzetta Sopra i Ponti and transforms the city into a medieval stage, with its knights, traditional costumes and atmosphere recalling Arezzo's medieval past. The city is well connected and is about 80 km from Florence, 90 km from Siena and 100 km from Perugia. Arezzo is therefore an excellent starting point to visit other Tuscan and Umbrian cities, but also to immerse oneself in the peaceful countryside, made up of vineyards, olive groves and small villages.
