Country house in Tuscany with a private swimming pool, very peaceful location
La casa dei Tassi, also named Tassinaiola, is situated in the Merse Valley, between the medieval village of Chiusdino and Saint Galgano Abbey, about 30 km from Siena.
The ground floor has a kitchen with a stone fireplace, as well as a bathroom with a shower that can only be accessed through the private garden. On the second floor there is a large living room with a fireplace and satellite TV. There are two bedrooms with a double bed and a third bedroom with separate beds, as well as a bathroom with a shower on this floor. The majority of the furniture dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. The living space totals 140m². The house is suitable for a maximum of six people. The house has no heating, only the two fireplaces.
In the big garden that surrounds the accommodation you can find a gazebo and table tennis, as well as a swimming pool measuring 10 x 4 metres with a depth of 1.10 metres. You can dine outside in the shade of trees and the gazebo.
It is ideal for spending a holiday in contact with nature, in an environment with a wealth of wild animals, centuries-old oak trees and laurel bushes, far away from modern life. The house is a typical Tuscan country house from the end of the 17th century, with stone walls, wooden columns and two floors. Tassinaiola is connected to the regional road to Frassina. The village Frassini is two kilometres away. The medieval village Chiusdino is 5km away, easy to get to on foot, by mountain bike or by car along a country road. In Chiusdino you can find supermarkets, shops, banks and pharmacies, a post office, a petrol station and restaurants where you can try the typical wines and meals of Tuscany. Almost every week in summer, many events are held in Chiusdino and the surrounding villages. The house is accessed along a non-asphalted road of about 1km.
From the garden, you can see the walls of the Cistercense di San Galgano abbey, which is 3km away. The Eremo, also called the Rotonda of Montesiepi where you can admire the holy sword in the rock, can also be seen. Montesiepi is about 10 minutes away by car or alternatively on foot along a path amongst the fields that separate the house from the abbey. Tassinaiola is especially conveniently located for hiking and walks in nature. For opera lovers, nearby there are many concerts, such as at the abbey of San Galgano in summer. About 10km away you can go on guided riding excursions and take horse riding lessons. Siena is only 30km away, definitely worth a visit. A trip to the Palio is especially recommended, the well-known horse race that takes place annually on the Piazza del Campo. During this time, Siena has a magical atmosphere. The medieval centre of Massa Marittima is also 30km away, by bus from Chiusdino. Monteriggiono, San Gimignano and Florence, known for their art and historical significance, are less than an hour away by car. The sea and the beaches at Puntala di Follonica are about 60km away. Here you can find beach facilities and free beaches.
