The climate in Mossel Bay is mild and sunny.In 1992, this town was listed in the Guiness Book of records as having the second mildest climate in the world. With 320 sunny days a year and a semi-arid microclimate, this is an ideal holiday destination throught the year.
Mossel Bay is surrounded by some of the most beautiful areas in South Africa, ranging from indigenous rain forests to the semi-arid Karoo landscape and fynbos.
This area is less known for its game farms, however, only 63 km from Pinnacle Point, the Big 5 can be seen in a private game reserve from the back of an open Landrover. Mossel Bay is one of the best whale watching areas in South Africa. Between May and September is the best time to see the Souther Wright whales when they come into the sheltered bay to give birth to their young.
